Weird Together is a studio and live collaborative music project from NZ producer/DJ Dick Johnson and Making Tracks’ host Nick Dwyer. Weird Together celebrates the pairs shared love of exotic global sounds, showcasing their vibrancy while enjoying a massive club overhaul, engineering big-room dance music, fit for the festival stage.

What started as a silly expression turned into technicoloured reality with this one. The Weird Together lads were mucking about listening to old Boban Markovic records for some Balkan inspiration and after repeatedly shouting ‘Drop The Brass’ at each other in the style of Skrillex’s now infamous sample / pop cultural colloquialism, an absurd idea was born. They called up master arranger of all things brass, Leon Radojkovic, and assembled a mysterious team of NZ’s finest horn players. PNC took care of the now infamous rap, the boys added some serious boom and hearty clack to proceedings and with a guest cameo from master of all things ceremonial, MC Slave, rounding things off, the silly idea was realised.

As well as Weird Together’s Original Version and Club Edit, Hamilton’s masters of minimal, snap-happy, low-end shenanigans, CTFD turn in a brooder of a remix rolling out the horns with a serious amount of hearty menace.
