UPDATE: Island Base announces Kaiit postponed due to Measles outbreak in Samoa

Written by on November 27, 2019

Island Base Samoa regrets to announce their next project featuring international award-winning Soul & RnB artist ‘KAIIT’ in Samoa for this December has been postponed till early 2020.

Kaiit explains, ‘due to the unfortunate outbreak of measles, the team and I have decided to reschedule my trip to Samoa. This decision was not made lightly and was based upon not having the appropriate measures regarding the vaccination to ensure the protection of my health whilst travelling. I’m looking forward to seeing my Samoan brothers and sisters in early 2020 and my prayers go out to everyone at this time. Please take care of yourselves and stay safe.’

Island Base Samoa in partnership with the Australian High Commission Samoa had put together a comprehensive programme of Female Empowerment workshops and mentoring programmes for Kaait to lead during her upcoming trip to Samoa with the purpose to engage with local women and young artists. This was scheduled for 5-12 December and in collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development and coincide with the ’16 days of activism against gender based violence’ global campaign.

We look forward to Kaiit’s visit in early 2020 to showcase one of Australia’s contemporary and talented artists and to build collaboration between people with creative ideas across our communities‘ Sara Moriarty (Australia’s High Commissioner to Samoa).

The good news, we have been able to reschedule Kaiit’s visit to Samoa for early next year and the programme with all planned activities and workshop will still be happening and fully free of charge, just at a slightly later stage‘, Jazz Ziedan (Managing Director Island Base Samoa / Base FM NZ).

The scheduled gigs at Taumeasina Island Resort & Home Cafe over the next week will go ahead as planned with 2 more top NZ DJs fresh off the festival stages added to the lineup.
