TROY KINGI ‘Aztechknowledgey’

Written by on December 11, 2017

Multi-talented actor and musician Troy Kingi offers up his sophomore album, Shake That Skinny Ass All The Way To Zygertron, a nod to the funkadelic-soul sounds of the seventies from which he draws inspiration, while exploring galactic sci-fi themes.
The concept for this album was conceived by Troy and his little brother as they sat on deck chairs stargazing in Taupo Bay. What was originally never intended as a concept album quickly became so as Troy created the uniquely-themed song titles and the two dreamt up intricate stories and characters which weave their way throughout. Although the idea of a concept album sounds quirky and unconventional, Troy’s soulful voice and ear for groove offer up a warm and well-grounded sound.
When it came to laying down the record, Troy was not short of quality musicians to call upon, choosing to collaborate with vintage synthesiser-enthusiast and seasoned musician Ed Zuccollo (Trinity Roots), and band-mate Mara TK (Electric Wire Hustle), who also took on the role of producer.
