SWEEP ‘Surfing The Song Of The Sun’

Written by on July 9, 2018

Dropping in on a leftfield tip this week is a fresh upload from Raglan-based DJ/Producer/Singer/Instrumentalist Sweep, with a psychedelic surf-meets-triphip-meets-jungle track which is all vibes.

‘Surfing The Song Of The Sun’ sets the scene with the sound of the sea and as the music swells into view, with a narrative reminiscent of 60s psychedelia layered over the sound of Hawaiian guitar, the drums enter and hits like classic-era DJ Krush, working the crossfader with furious scratching which tells it’s own story instead of lyrics.

‘the blue ocean full of beauty, full of colours,
the people of this world, colourful like a rainbow,
what a beauty this could be’

It’s definitely different and well worth featuring. Check it out for yourself and explore the rest of Sweep‘s back catalogue here.
