Splore keeps giving with more music, performance and visual art announced

Splore’s already impressive music line-up gets a further boost with a few more acts including the legendary godfather of neo-soul, Roy Ayers. His classic hits “Everybody Loves the Sunshine”, “Searchin” and “Running Away” are some of the most sampled tracks by DJs. Ayers exclusive show at Splore will be his first in New Zealand for many years.

Also announced is a solo DJ set from Canadian turntablist Kid Koala. The Ninja Tune artist is also a musician and graphic novelist and has collaborated with the likes of Gorillaz, Amon Tobin and The Slew (featuring former members of Wolfmother).

Seminal German EDM producers Acid Pauli and NU have also joined the Splore roster along with the UK’s Earl Gateshead and Brazil’s Alti Fidelidade.

Local acts added include Ahoribuzz, Antix, Rio Hunuki-Hemopo, The Nukes, Randomplay, Chica Lorica, Adam O, Dylan C, The Funk Ferret and the Fuzzbox.

A taster of performances confirmed include Between the Lines who will take you back to your favourite Kiwi childhood memory of swinging on a Hills Rotary washing line.

The Wet Hot Beauties are all glamour and danger! The luscious leggy ladies in matching cloche swimming caps and blood-red smiles will be wowing the crowd with their contemporary water ballet at the beach. Be prepared for a surfing safari, swinging sixties splash mob in Malibu style.

Curated by Russell Brown of Public Address, The Listening Lounge will get the cerebral juices flowing with a spoken word session featuring special guest talks, poetry and prose, a Pecha Cucha segment and panel discussion.

The family performance roster includes award winning clown and festival favourite, Fraser Hooper who brings his hilarious boxing show along with an all ages clown workshop for the whole family.

If it’s keeping up with your fitness that you can’t do without, Dance Fitness will be teaching handstands, contact improvisation, muscle and bone dance fitness classes atSplore.

And if it’s yoga you’re keen on, YogaRhythms is an all encompassing, interactive, fun-fusion of yoga with world-driven beats.

The Splore arts programme is as diverse as ever. It includes a floating playground for young and old alike, glowing fruit, an immersive structure designed as a birds nest, totems, insect houses and many more to surprise and delight the audience around the Splore festival site.

All aboard the Splore Express! There will be free and subsidised buses taking people direct to Splore in style where over 300 scheduled performances in a combination of music acts, performances and visual art installations await during the three days 20-22 February 2015. The weekend is jam-packed with entertainment over five stages, all set on the sublime beach at Tapapakanga Park 70KM SE of Auckland CBD.
