Sounds Aotearoa 2013

Written by on March 7, 2013

Sounds Aotearoa, New Zealand’s premier indigenous music expo, is back for 2013 and happening in Auckland for the first time.

This two-day music event, which includes speaker seminars and artist showcases/performances, is a opportunity for musicians, promoters, managers and others to work with industry experts to learn and share with one another. It’s also a great chance for the general public to see some of our best indigenous musicians performing live in one place.

From 10am to 1pm on both days you can catch seminars from the directors of some of the world’s biggest music festivals as well as other music industry leaders. There is always a special focus on taking New Zealand music to the world so it’s a must for any local musicians and managers wanting to break into the international festival circuit. It’ll also give you a chance to network with and learn directly with people like Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s Kath Mainland.

On both afternoon’s from 1pm to 4pm a range of artists including Funkommunity, Estere (pictured above), Tama Waipara, Sidesteps Quintet and Ria Hall will perform not just for the public but for international festival bookers in New Zealand’s own version of the famous Spiegel tent, located in the middle of Aotea Square.

Get tickets for either Sunday/Monday or both days at the-edge.co.nz
