Saturday 2pm – 4pm with Dylan C and Gene & Keighley Rivers – proudly brought to you by The Leigh Sawmill Cafe
The Headspace is an eclectic 2 hour journey through Ninja Jazz, Funk & Reggae, Downtempo, Blunted Hip Hop, Dubstep and classic Drum & Bass. Focussing on the often overlooked music from around the world, the Headspace is not about hearing the usual club bangers. The Saturday afternoon slot allows for a lot more self indulgence which isn’t always possible with weekday shows or evening party sets, and apparently the Headspace is suitable for cleaning the house, and nursing hangovers.
Jazz from the late 60s and early 70s (Impulse, Blue Note, CTI), mid 90s downtempo (Warp, Mo Wax, Ninja Tune) and new school beats (Project Mooncircle, All City), hip hop & instrumental beats (Dj Spinna, Pete Rock, Jazz Liberatorz, Dilla, BBE, Stones Throw), electronic dub and even deeper UK bass music (DMZ, Hotflush, Hyperdub, nakedlunch, Apple Pips) forward thinking drum & bass from the past & present (Metalheadz, Certificate 18, Moving Shadow, Exit, Samurai), and plenty of local talent from Aotearoa.
Dylan C is a regular DJ around Auckland City, and currently spins a range of different tunes at a bunch of different venues. He is Programme Director for Base FM, co-host of the Base FM Breakfast Show & Native Tongues NZ Music Show. A strong supporter of local music, his DJ sets often feature local MCs and beatmakers alongside the best the rest of the world has to offer. While known for his diverse downtempo beats & soulful hiphop sets, Dylan C also prefers a more heavier sound.

He’s held multiple residencies across the Auckland bar and club circuit and has featured regularly across the summer festival and arts events. He sights opening for Roy Ayers amongst his career highlights.
