This week on Native Tongues!…

Featured Track and Artist:
Mustbe by Church & AP (ft. Aidan Fine)

After releasing their summer kick back anthem ‘Happy Song’ with DeadForest just the other month, Church & AP have returned with another YKK posse cut on ‘Mustbe’.

On their latest record Church & AP take on Nelly’s classic ‘must be the money’ phrase from his early 2000s hit ‘Ride Wit Me’. Flipping this with the help of Dera Meelan on production, Church & AP give their own kiwi flavour on ‘Mustbe’ while also simultaneously taking a hit at the notion that money changes you.

19-year old rising artist Aidan Fine makes his first feature with Church & AP, showing a whole new side to himself. Fine comes in with the second verse showing exactly why the award winning duo have brought him under their wings.

‘Mustbe’  is the first single from side B of their ‘At Thy Feet’ album. After releasing side A in October with a subsequent nationwide tour, Church & AP’s full side B is expected to be released early 2021, but not before they take Aotearoa’s summer festival circuit first.

Self Care – Meg Theron

She’s another favourite artist of Yannika’s and was first featured on Native Tongues in 2020. Wellington singer, rapper, songwriter, producer and musician Meg Theron is starting 2021 on a high note by releasing new single ‘Self Care’. After a very exciting release of single ‘CRUSH’ at the end of last year, Meg is extremely proud to share a new, refreshing Pop project that’s very close to her heart.

During 2020, along with most people around the world, Meg experienced an abundance of personal problems and heartache. ‘Self Care’ is a song about reflecting on oneself and making the decision to focus on your personal health. “I think a lot of the time, we attribute our own success and happiness to how others perceive and treat us, this song was a huge part of me letting go of that and fully taking on my own happiness”.

Featured Track and Artist:
Deadroses – Aidan Fine

We started the show with him and now we end it as a lead up to his new single featuring Church & AP which drops this Friday 12 March. Aidan will be chatting to Ian Beatmaster Wright on the Breakfast show so tune in or listen back on Mixcloud.

After jumping on Church & AP’s latest single, “MUSTBE”, YKK’s newest recruit is back with his own summer anthem. Despite being the new kid on the block, Aidan Fine is well on his way to finding his place in the local music scene. If he’s not working in the studio with NZ music’s finest or performing to his growing fanbase at shows across Auckland, he’s investigating new musical ideas, constantly developing and morphing his sound into whatever feels right. Born in the United States, raised in South Africa, and currently calling New Zealand home all before his 20s even begin, Fine is a true world citizen – and his music reflects
this. With each new song, Aidan invites his listeners along on his journey to find his place in the world.
