Native Tongues 2 Nov featuring special guests YVY MARAEY

This week on Native Tongues we’re kicking off the show with Nat Lover‘s track featuring Glad2Mecha ‘Catalogues’. This was featured on the last Base FM Turn It Up compilation album and was chosen as we are running the Turn It Up competition again! (Find out more about the competition here). Nat Lover released his “Lesson Four” EP earlier this year and is still on heavy rotation.

 


Palmerston North based artist Theophilus has some serious talent. Featured tracks, ‘LoFi.Prt 1’,  ‘My Little Rugrat’ and an unreleased exclusive only on Base FM ‘Reality’.

“I am Kid from the first place in the world to see the sun rise, Gisborne(Turanganui-a-Kiwa).The only music I was really around when I was kid was Kapa Haka and growing up as a Maori Boy that lived in New Zealand(Aotearoa) It was the go too even if you didn’t want too ,and I was definitely one to not want too. I sorta got into rapping when watch the movie about Biggie Smalls but who really inspired me to Rap and make music HANDS DOWN Sheff G . I knew all of THE UNLUCCY LUCCY KID album and rap he’s songs all the time. Trying to master he’s flow ,creativity. Me knowing that he was born on the same day as me and where my life is going right now THATS GOTTA COUNT FOR SOMETHING!”

Times is a rapper/artist from East Auckland, New Zealand. He was also live in the studio on Base FM last week with Esther Elmi. Featured this week are the tracks ‘Spooky’ and ‘Pandora’.


Eliezer is a London born Auckland raised rapper, singer, songwriter who produces and engineers all of his music with his best friend Jake also knows as Ten.Oh. He has a forthcoming album on the way that is described as Psychedelic Hip Hop.

Featuring on this weeks show is his latest track titled ‘Flying’.


The hits don’t stop coming from Sam V. We’re treated again to his latest single ‘Up Up Down’.

 


One of our Breaking Artists this month is 20 year old Wellington based artist, songwriter, producer and musician Meg Theron. She is one to watch!

 


Yvy Maraey is a singer/songwriter originally from Berlin and is currently working on a forthcoming project with New Zealand based guitarist/producer Simon Abela.

Tracks featured ‘Higher Love’, an acoustic version of ‘Higher Love’ and a first listen to part of an unreleased track ‘Water’.


Finishing off the show with requests from our special guests YVY and Simon – Tracks from Noah Slee, ‘Still’ and ‘Stayed’ and a classic from Fat Freddys Drop, ‘Blackbird’.
