Island Base FM: New sister station in Samoa

We are absolutely thrilled to announce Island Base FM, Base FM’s brand new sister station over in Samoa. We will be broadcasting on a full power frequency across all off Samoa on 87.5 FM as well as a live stream via and the Base FM phone app worldwide.

‘Base FM is a hub and platform for creatives of all kind, celebrating the south pacific as a whole. It’s aim is to connect the islands and island culture through media, music, events, sports and educational programs. Island Base FM will feature live DJs from NZ and Samoa. It’s mission is to create stability and a sense of belonging as we believe that having a creative outlet and community of like-minded individuals results in stronger self-worth and a future full of opportunities. ’
– Jazz Ziedan (Managing Director, Base FM & Island Base FM).

The launch will be celebrated in style as we are taking over a handful of our top NZ-based pacific artists to perform over in their homeland of Samoa at a series of live events:

Award-winning hip hop artist: Poetik
Award-winning reggae artist: Israel Starr
Representing Sunshine Soundsystem: MC KP
Representing the Runtingz Family: Lion Rezz and Israel Starr
Representing Team Dynamite: Lucky Lance

Big thanks to Digicel, Tanoa Tusitala Hotel, Samoa Airways, Vailima,Samoana Rental Cars, Base FM, Alo Paopao Festival who are sharing our vision in not only the ‘playing’ but travelling our local artists across the islands. This is a huge opportunity for musicians to cross over to other pacific markets. Samoa in particular hasn’t been offering much of an outlet or support for local artists, which we are aiming to change.

Island Base FM will be set up at an iconic venue in the Apia city waterfront. A connection to water and the people is important, so sea view and a big space for our listeners and artists to participate are key. The studio will be able to travel as well, taking the mobile set up to different resorts and beaches and broadcasting live.
