IllBAZ, MELODOWNZ, RAIZA BIZA ‘Live Stream’ feat. TEEKS
Written by Admin on June 18, 2018
Aotearoa hip-hop stars IllBaz, MELODOWNZ and Raiza Biza have joined forces for this week’s Local eyes, a new project called High Beams.
The seven track project is due out in July, but the first single from the collective was shared on Friday. ‘Live Stream‘ featuring Taite-nominated soul artist TEEKS is a politically-charged track with a video directed by Connor Pritchard.
The amazing lineup for High Beams doesn’t stop with ‘Live Stream’, artists announced for the project include Che Fu, Dirty (Eno x Dirty) and High Hoops. High Beams is described as “shining a light on things that are discarded or overlooked, especially living in New Zealand, a country so distant from conflicts and human injustice on a large scale.” Raiza Biza shared his thoughts on the project in a statement…
“This is not a political project in particular, but those themes are things we each think about often… Baz being from Palestine, myself being from Rwanda, and Melo being Polynesian. We see and deal with these issues daily. Most of our common ground lies in what makes us different, but at the end of the day, we are young people who want to be happy. No different to other young people. We like to have fun but not at the expense of being true to ourselves.”
