After getting the green light to hold live music events in Febuarary of this year, Eden Park has announced its first show will be the from best selling Dunedin band, Six60. The concert scheduled for April 24th, welcomes a potential crowd of 50,000 making it the one of the biggest audiences since the beginning of the covid pandemic. Six60s Saturdays’s Auckland tour date was adruptly postponed due to the pandemic, the tour will be rounded out on Anazac weekend.
With only 14% of residents opposing the stadium being allowed to stage up to six concerts a year, the Fringe District is happily the new home of stadium concerts. Kingsland Villages hospitality venues are also raring with this decision, there are a host of options with an eight minute walk of the sports arena.
Our top picks for gig day are starting your morning off with a yummy brunch at Atomic Coffee Roasters and with an nice on-site bach roasted cup of coffee, followed by lunch at Kage alongside the cocktail of the day before heading over to Eden Park Stadium for an areana style concert, then a cheeky nightcap at Base FM’s home base, Portland Public House.
