EPOCH ‘Rewind’

“A few weeks back I showed up relatively late in the evening for the 36 DEEP club night “RITUAL XVII” to catch Average White DJ dropping tunes.. I missed his set completely but was impressed with what I heard from Christchurch-based DJ/Producer EPOCH. One track in particular really stood out for me: a moody bass tune with a wicked break and a sublime halftime bridge section. 2 days later it appeared on Epoch’s soundcloud page titled “Rewind”. Always keen to showcase a different sound, we decided to make it the Base FM local tune of the week.” Dylan C (Programme Director)

Epoch from Chirstchurch/Quakechurch has released bass tunes Keysound Recordings, Glacial Sounds and his own label Egyptian Avenue. Epoch productions boast deep sub-pressure and ingenuity in equal measure, with glimpses of grime nostalgia interwoven with staggering 130bpm based rhythms. His inimitable, forward-looking take on sounds of days gone by has earned him support from the likes of Dusk & Blackdown, Wen and LV, and a following of heads looking for something skewed to rock their speakers.
