Breaking Artists (November 2020)

Written by on November 4, 2020

‘Breaking Artists’ on Base is a monthly feature where we pick 3 local artists and showcase 3 new tracks we think you should know. All ‘Breaking Artists’ tracks are fresh and featured for the entire month so we can push their music far and wide.

This month’s picks!…

Pacific Heights – ‘The Weight of It’

Pacific Heights releases brand new music – his first since his 2018 critically acclaimed album A LOST LIGHT. For the new track, Pacific Heights aka Devin Abrams brings on electronica legend Steve Spacek. The limitless and deep-seated talents of Steve Spacek are dispatched into the world of Devin Abram’s Pacific Heights on ‘The Weight Of It’, making for a seamless and quixotic pairing. The vintage croon of the Sydney based UK electronic scene veteran deftly navigates through Abram’s lucid and nimble production, which sounds like a future blues track for a post-apocalyptic world.

Krispy and The Pooch – ‘Groovy Buzzy’

Kriston Batistic (aka Krispy) and Simon Townsend (aka The Pooch) met in the
squalor of a decaying student house in a wealthy suburb in Auckland five years
ago. They released an EP, 3 singles, played gigs around Europe, toured New
Zealand (including a festival slot at Christchurch’s Electric Avenue), and are now
preparing for the release of their sophomore EP; Drop The Needle.
