Breaking Artists (July 2020)
Written by Admin on July 6, 2020
‘Breaking Artists’ on Base is a monthly feature where we pick 3 local artists and showcase 3 new tracks we think you should know. All ‘Breaking Artists’ tracks are fresh and featured for the entire month so we can push their music far and wide.
This month’s picks!…
JARNA – Do Mi Dirti
East Aucklander Jarna Parsons is a soulful singer with a beautiful voice. No wonder she has been roped into a number of collaborations with the likes of Mikey Mayz and bKidd, who both share one thing in common with her – they all work with Auckland super-producer EDY. Her songs take inspiration from pop and RnB roots and her latest will not disappoint.

Katana – Stance
The Auckland DJ, Producer and founder of BASSMENT (a community focused music event for local Soundcloud producers and underground music lovers and clothing line), KATANA returns with his second EP project ‘We Will Figure It Out’ – a project inspired by the ‘bedroom producer’ community of which he has harnessed, mentored and become the leader.
Originally hailing from Japan, KATANA has been mixing tracks on dancefloors in his adopted hometown of Auckland for well over a decade. Inspired by the likes of Q-Bert and Kentaro, KATANAs style began old school, playing hip-hop classics on vinyl. Through his constant pursuit and interest for new technology and trends, KATANAs style is ever-evolving to stay at the leading edge of the shifting world of DJing and producing.
