AP & Kamahumble ‘HEKAHORCY’

Written by on April 12, 2021

This week’s Local eyes video is from Auckland-based rapper AP, one half of hip-hop duo Church & AP, and close collaborator Kamahumble, of rap supergroup KOME. They have connected for ‘HekaHorcy‘ a tropical flavoured island time anthem that celebrates the rapper’s respective Polynesian cultures, between Tonga and Samoa.
Both AP & Kamahumble playfully fuse Tongan and Samoan language and slang in their bilingual verses, complimented by a cruisy, traditional Pasifika instrumental driven by laidback sirens and ukulele plucks. The collab arrives with an old-school karaoke-style music video directed by Oscar Keys, featuring Pasifika dances, motifs, and community.
