Ring The Alarm

Saturday 10am – Midday with Peter Mac

Peter Mac was a DJ on 95bFM, co-hosting arts show The Culture Bunker for 8 years before the show was retired. He wandered aimlessly for some time til he landed at the feet of one Manuel Bundy, who took pity on him and gave him a show (thanks, bro!).

He makes music under the name Dub Asylum (see www.dubasylum.co.nz) and was previously in Hallelujah Picassos, a bunch of musical misfits who mashed up reggae, ska, punk, funk and hiphop way before that ish was cool (trivia – the Picassos once did a song called MC OJ’s Boots – ask Otis about it sometime – he hated it). He has also shot and directed several music videos for Dub Asylum. DIY rules! Dub Asylum has played alongside the Nomad, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Salmonella Dub, and the Black Seeds.

He is down with the Bassteppa Sound System and is happy to drop a heavyweight bass line at a moments notice. He also writes occasionally for local music magazines, and lies frequently in cheesy blurbs like this one. But only for effect, you understand. Spot you Saturday mornings from 10 to midday for some reggae delights, on Ring The Alarm” only on Base FM, 107.3…
