Big Sene
Big Sene has been a Base FM stalwart since the very beginning of the station and with as big a heart as anyone, you’ll meet. One of the founding DJs of the 80s club scene in Auckland, Sene brings classic club hits and funk/soul sounds from the 80s and 90s, with the odd little gem thrown in to mix things up. When you’re looking for that comforting familiar sounds of your youth, or if you’re too young to have heard it the first time around, these are the tunes that had your ‘rents boogieing away before you were a twinkle in their eye.
Mark G, on the other hand, had ‘eclectic’ coined for his style: soul, jazz, reggae, house and more – so long as it has a beat and has soul, you might find it here. Starting his DJ career back in the 80s in Canada, he brings in a solid knowledge of the new wave/post punk years, including ska, dub and early electronica. Holding down the same time slot on George FM for around 8 years, Sene invited Mark to share the responsibility of getting people out of clubs and into bed, or out of bed and into the day (depending on how old you are).
Whoever’s on, you’ll be guaranteed fine beats and friendly banter. Grab a coffee and do some dancing in your kitchen over breakfast!
