Death of DAB in NZ
Written by Admin on June 6, 2018
We regret to inform our digital loving Baseheads that the very successful 11-year trial of Digital Audio Broadcasting or DAB technology in New Zealand is coming to an end.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE) has ordered Kordia to wrap up its trial by 30 June 2018. Kordia and Base FM firmly believes there is room for both traditional radio and DAB in the market and other countries including Australia, the UK and Norway have proven this is the case. We hope that in the not too distant future, New Zealand will also embrace this technology as others have.
But until then, don’t worry there are many ways to listen to Base FM so why not download the Base App or stream live through Freeview Channel 71
