This week’s Local Eyes is from Auckland based Somali-NZ rapper Mo Muse who has returned after his 2020 David Dallas collab ‘Lighters Up’, and series of knockout singles as Auckland hip-hop collective BLKCITY, Mo Muse steps back on the scene with ‘PESOS’.
This is the first single taken from his sophomore project Insider Trading, set for release later this year.Sliding over sultry, Latin-infused guitar and 808’s produced by MUESLIBEATS and iCEYGHOSTS, Mo Muse takes reparations where they’re due over assertive, stone-cold verses, arriving with a music video directed by Auckland filmmaker Tom Grut.“What I like about this track is, it’s almost relatable to everyone. We’ve almost all been in a scenario where payment owed to us has been delayed, to whatever scale”. Mo says, before detailing his forthcoming live-oriented material.”Playing live is something I haven’t done enough of in my music career, so I was very intentional in making sure a lot of the tracks on the project would make sense to perform live”.
