This week’s Local Eye’s video is from Auckland based rap collective 0800, who have just dropped their second single, ‘Instant Simulation’, following their April release ‘Group Call’.

A boost of adrenaline surging energy, ‘Instant Stimulation’ is a playful statement on instant gratification, self-fulfillment, and ego. Possessed with invigorating stamina, the song’s bouncy hook speaks to our generation’s desire to seek validation from external forces. Distorting synths and pounding drum patterns strike the track into alternative hip hop territory, while each member passes the baton back and forth on exhilarating verses.

The single arrives with a conceptual music video directed by Connor Pritchard, created with support from NZ On Air. Beginning with the 0800 boys packaging their own energy drink brand, the visual pans to find a young boy fueled on an intoxicating trip induced by 0800’s ‘Instant Stimulation’ hit, alongside lively scenes across an anchorman set, talk show, and more.
