MELODOWNZ

Bronson Price aka “MELODOWNZ” is a Polynesian urban poet and artist raised in the Melting pot urban village of Avondale, Auckland, New Zealand. MeloDownz’ new solo project focuses on the gritty West Auckland streets he was raised on. On Avontales, the suburb of Avondale is positioned front and centre, supplying the characters that inhabit the EP’s eight tracks as well as the setting that frames their stories. MeloDownz’s songcraft has stepped up to do their tales justice, his detailed storytelling complimented by guest vocals from Bailey Wiley, Yaynè and Israel Starr, plus production assists courtesy of YGB’s Ben Jamin, the Grow Room’s Lightskinjohn, and Wellington beatmaker Baccyard. He Plans to take over the world one rhyme at a time.

SUNSHINE SOUNDSYSTEM
(DJ DOwntown Brown & MC KPZ)

A Sunshine set typically includes lots of fresh bootlegs, a bit of reggae & dub, plenty of hiphop, but no trash….. understand?! Dancehall, original skool soul and funk including a few crate-digger breaks, plus if the mood takes us, a badbwoy fusion of old skool ragga junglism, breaks and D&B
Downtown has a back catalogue extending back to ’97, consisting of originals and remixes, some of which remain unreleased, and some which have trickled out on white label 12”s and CD compilations. His now infamous NYC Moving 12”, which sampled MJ’s Billy Jean drew acclaim from as far afield as the UK where praise in IDJ and Mixmag helped to catalyse a 6 week European tour in 02. They have not stopped rocking clubs worldwide since.

LATINAOTEAROA

Latinaotearoa came from the concept of blending local flavours with the colourful cultures of South America. Brazilian born Auckland DJ Bobby Brazuka and Venezuelan singer Jennifer Zea created a unique live performance with Bobby’s Latin influenced soul-funk and hip hop selections layered with Jennifer’s ravishing vocals.
Six years, two albums and countless tours later, Latinaotearoa continues to go from strength to strength. Debut album Latinaotearoa was nominated for Best Roots Album at
the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards in 2013, creating deserved exposure for the band. It provided momentum for their follow-up album, Latinaotearoa in Latinoamerica, which was recorded in 2014 in the colourful surrounds of Brazil, enabling the group to delve into their Latin roots for inspiration.

ERINSPHERE

Progressive, upbeat folk, where dubby, reggae basslines combine with beatboxing and impeccable, synth-style vocal harmonies, Erin’s sound and rhythmic groove is inspired by the heavyweights in catchy, conscious music. Using techniques comparable to those of contemporary legends Tash Sultana and Ed Sheeran, the ‘Erinsphere’ is essentially about creating something that uplifts and inspires, in a similar way to John Lennon’s “Imagine” or Michael Jackson’s “Heal the World”; layered right in front of your eyes. But you might want to wear your dancing shoes.
