This week’s Featured Base FM DJ is Sgt Benji of Thursday afternoon’s Riddim Culture. The father and son team of Sgt Benji and DJ Locksteady are this week moving from their 12pm slot to a new time of 2pm. Not too much of a change. Just means you’ll getting your weekly dose of Thursday afternoon roots and dancehall two hours later. Perfect for getting you through to the end of the day and that much closer to the weekend.
When and how did you get into DJing?
I started at the end of 1992, being inspired by seeing sound systems in action after my first trip to Jamaica.
When did you start DJing at Base?
I started at Base not long after they started… I think it was around 2005

First reggae record I brought was Peter Tosh Bush Doctor…at a school gala for a dollar

Ride my motorbike, travel, spend time with my kids

My first full time job was at the ANZ bank
