Featured Base DJ – Ross Liew/ Oscar Low/ TrustMe
Written by Admin on October 2, 2012
This week’s featured Base DJ is man of many names, Ross Liew aka Oscar Low aka TrustMe. Ross takes over Sunday Sounds from 12 – 2pm every second week with his friends Sam and Arran. Ross is responsible for bringing some raw soul and dirty blues to your Sunday afternoon with his collection of early ‘rhythm and blues’ to 50’s guitar instrumentals to soul to Phil Spector’s girl group heyday tunes. The rest of the time, Ross is TrustMe, one 5th of Auckland’s prolific street art crew, Cut Collective. Oscar’s work as TrustMe can be found all over the city, on grimey walls and lamp posts to the interiors of downtown corporate offices.
Ross is currently curating Graffiato – New Zealand’s biggest street art festival featuring 16 of the country’s best street artists and 2 guest artists from Sydney, Roach and Numskull. The festival is being held in Taupo for 3 days over Labour Weekend and would definitely be worth the road trip.
This weekend however, you have the chance to get some of Ross’s art work on your own walls. The whole Cut Collective crew is hosting an exhibition titled Fresh Produce on Saturday, October 6th. New work as well as pieces done in the last few years will be available for purchase. These shows don’t come around very often and there are usually some pretty sweet bargains up for grabs so get in there and tick some Christmas presents off your list.
Catch Ross/Oscar/TrustMe here on Base FM every second Sunday from 12 – 2pm for Sunday Sounds.
