Base FM has put on parties in bars, in clubs, in parks, and even on a boat… This summer we’ll be doing something different and throwing parties on a rooftop in downtown Auckland, Sunday Sessions style.

THE LOCATION

Heading into summer, Base FM is launching a series of sunday events at The Rydges Hotel rooftop terrace, with it’s stunning panoramic view of the Waitemata Harbour. Usually reserved for weddings and exclusive events, this is a rare chance to enjoy this amazing space in the heart of Auckland City.

THE MUSIC

Featuring exclusive live performances from exciting local artists, fresh tune selections by Base FM DJs, a refreshing range of cocktails while taking in the stunning view. The events are an afternoon affair, so no waiting in line and staying up till 2am just to see the headlining act.

We are proud to present Auckland artist VILLETTE – fresh from a recent trip to LA and a recent addition to the Red Bull Sound Select roster. “Villette is the definition of a one-(wo)man-band; writing, singing, producing, DJing, you name it – she’s doing it.” – Purple Sneakers. “Some artists can pull listeners in immediately, after just moments of hearing one song… Her rhythm alone is enough to spark interest, but it’s Villette’s voice that steals the show.” – Base FM

RAIZA BIZA should be familiar to Base FM audiences as a regular featured artist since he emerged on the scene in 2012. Hamilton-based / Rwanda born, Raiza Biza’s early music was a reflection of the life of a young refugee in a new land, trying to find his identity. With 4 solo albums already under his belt, Raiza Biza’s most recent release “Day & Night EP” is probably his most important work to date, and features a supporting cast of local artists including Villette, Bianca Paulus & CrimeHeat. Raiza has just completed a 5 date tour of Europe & the UK.

A handpicked selection of Base FM DJ’s will be setting the mood fro the afternoon with Dylan C, Ill Baz, Trendy, Israel Carter, Kina G and Some Kinda Holic laying down a diverse selection of tunes.

Following the launch party, there will be a 5 week run of Sunday events leading up to Christmas. Each event will have a different musical theme, from jazzy hiphop to house, dancehall to liquid Drum n Bass.

HIT + RUN live screenprinting:
The Hit + Run crew will have limited edition screenprints exclusive to these events. Bring your own Tee / Hoodie / Bag / Jacket / Tea Towel and walk away with a fresh print.

Created in 2005 by Southern California artists Brandy Flower and Michael Crivello. Live screenprinting creates dynamic interactive entertainment to produce a one of a kind party souvenir.
