Matariki on the Waterfront is coming back to Silo Park for another sublime celebration of tikanga Māori. As the beautiful Matariki constellation takes up residence in the sky above, Silo Park will be lit up in celebration. Don’t miss the stunning sound and light installations, djs spinning tunes, sensational cultural performances, and of course the return of the Mighty Matariki Markets with delicious kai and amazing arts n’ crafts.

Friday 15 July – 5.00pm – 10.00pm:
The weekend opens with an enchanting optical experience, navigating ‘The Seven Silos of Matariki’, and created by lighting designers brought together under Angus Muir Design. The tamariki will be entertained with Silo 7’s selection of fun kids activities – UV table tennis, drawing, games and more! Tune your taringas to local DJs Matene (5-8pm) and DJ Roo (from 8pm), who’ll be spinning smooth jams throughout the night. And alongside the sensory explosion, dig in to a literal feast of kai and beverages from Food Space vendors.

Saturday 16 July – 2.00 – 10.00pm:
Don’t miss the Mighty Matariki Markets, as well as interactive workshops and other activities still to be announced. Specialist craft vendors include Mahi Toi, Ntkmade, Fehoko Art Creation, Maori By Design, and more. Food Vendors such as The Maori Kai Cupboard, Fusion Flavas – Mussel Up,Serial Griller NZ and many more will be tempting tastebuds. As the sun sets light installations will once again burst to life on Auckland’s Waterfront, accompanied by sweet sounds from Gene Rivers (2-6pm) and Lo Key (from 6pm).

Sunday 17 July 12 noon – 5.00pm:
The final day sees Matariki on the Waterfront going out with a bang. The Mighty Matariki Markets will feature wonderful kite, flag and star workshops, thanks to Nga Puawaitanga O Tamaki. There will be an educational Matariki Korero from one of the E Tū Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Kaumatuas, as well as traditional Māori games and activities. And of course, another hearty selection of kai for hungry bellies.
