EVENT: Red Bull Thre3style – The Ultimate Live DJ Battle

Auckland is about to see a whole other level of scratching, when the Red Bull Thre3style World Championship Tour hits Neck of the Woods on June 30 for our local competition, showcasing our most premium local DJ talent, live! Seven of NZ’s top DJs will battle each other in front of the crowds with their idea of the best party rocking set, opened by our very own P-MONEY and followed by performances from Japanese born 2013 Red Bull Thre3style World Champion SHINTARO and Chile’s 2015 Red Bull Thre3style World Champion BYTE.

Red Bull Thre3style is the global platform for performance DJ’s to entertain music fans and impress legendary judges with the hopes of becoming World Champ. The rules of the event are simple. Each DJ gets 15 minutes and must play at least three different genres of music and these sets are judged against the following criteria: originality, skill, track selection and of course, crowd reaction. The best New Zealand DJ will be crowned the local winner and proceed on to the Red Bull Thre3style World Championship event in Santiago de Chile. The Red Bull Thre3style World Tour will visit over 20 countries from May to September across Europe, Asia/Pacific and the States. Auckland’s DJ Scizzorhands (2012 NZ Champion, host of Base FM’s Peace Of Dreams Show), DJ Jordan Lee, DJ Manchoo and DJ Nodz, Wellington’s DJ Spell (2011 NZ Champion) and newcomer DJ Gooda, as well as Christchurch’s Big Ruse will be pushing their limits on the wheels of steel in a bid to turn up the dance floor, please the crowds, and get them jumping. DJ Gooda has recieved a huge backing on social media so far, and is competing in the unique competition for his first time. Could he be the dark horse?

“I feel so excited to be competing in my first Red Bull Thre3style.” Says Gooda. “I have always kept up with the comps over the last few years and to see it back in NZ is choice as! To be up against two previous Champions is really great, those guys are killers at what they do. I hope to see the OG’s come through and show us youngins what’s up. I will be bringing some of that Lyall Bay goodness to the stage.”

But it’s not only the crowds that competitors need to please. Judged by Japanese 2013 Red Bull Thre3style World Champion SHINTARO, Chile’s 2015 Red Bull Thre3style World Chamption BYTE and a local judge yet to be announced, the panel of legendary DJ’s only have one spot to give for the World Final.
