The first single from Oakley Grenell‘s next O.G. album, ‘Happenin’ featuring MCs Stauny Pops and JDouble is a playful throw back to the subject of growing up in New Zealand in the good old days, the 80s…when all of these guys were kids evidently! Also contributing to this lush, summery track is vocalist Roslen Ulaula whose soulful harmonies lace the chorus and Oakley’s brother Redford laid down the scratches and the live drums.

The video was directed by Sam Britten of Britten Motion Pictures. Sam achieved some incredible things with a small team and smart technology. “We got right in there with our latest aerial camera system and new super slow motion camera rig. We did some incredible chopper tracking shots of skating that are amazing and had a ton of fun watching Stauny cop it in slow mo!! It’s a new era in camera movement when a production of this size can do a bad ass camera move like that.” says Sam

Originally from Christchurch New Zealand, now based in Melbourne Australia, musician / producer Oakley ‘O.G.’ Grenell has independently turned out 9 releases on his own Central Records including albums from the The Otautahi Allstars and Departure Lounge bands which he leads. He also produced his sister, Amiria Grenell’s Tui Award winning album, Three Feathers in 2012.

Happenin is taken from the forthcoming O.G. album which is due for release in May 2014.
