ICE CUBE "I Am The West"

Written by on November 4, 2010

“This shit is cocky, no apologies, West Coast gangsta shit. I can’t help it. That’s what I do.”

There are really only a few household names in the rap & hip hop game. Even fewer endure beyond an album or two, a flash in the pan & then become yesterday’s news. Not so one of the biggest names: Ice Cube.

We’re stone tripping to present Ice Cube’s 10th studio album, I Am The West, on his own Lench Mob label.

Since his days in the notorious N.W.A. in the late ‘80s (alongside Dr Dre, Eazy E, RenYella), right through his multi-platinum solo albums like Amerikkka’s Most WantedThe Predator & 2008’s return-to-form Raw Footage, the manlike Cube keeps it raw & uncut.

No doubt Ice Cube’s fanbase has been consistently large, even growing in recent years.

Ice Cube is also a major force in Hollywood, with starring roles in massive hits like Friday, Barbershop, Boyz In The Hood & has moved into producing movies & a TV series, Are We There Yet?

Forget all of that candy-coated isht, though, as I Am The West showcases Cube at his most street, throwing down hard-edged rhymes about life in L.A. atop genuinely West Coastin’ beats, reminiscent of his early solo work.
