HOME BASE: Help Base find a new Space

Sadly, the building which has been home to Base FM since 2009, has been marked for development. We have until the end of November to find a new home, build a new studio and relocate the entire station, in order to keep broadcasting & promoting great music to NZ and to the world.

Base FM is 100% independently owned & operated, with a small team which provides a to over 80 volunteer DJs. Since 2004, the station has broadcast on 107.3FM to our neighbourhood in Grey Lynn / Ponsonby, via Freeview Ch71 nationwide & live stream worldwide.
This is our neighbourhood, and one which has seen rapid change & development, yet the inner city suburbs still the core Base FM listenership. Our extended community includes not only individuals that enjoy our musical selections, but also small boutique businesses, venues, promoters, and events based in the area.
We are seeking financial support for the challengers ahead:
- secure a new location & long term lease
- design & build a new broadcast studio
- hire broadcast technicians & create new links to existing transmitter
- labour costs for builders / electricians
- install security monitoring system
- refurbish new premises
MINIMUM TOTAL: $16,000
Base FM is essential for New Zealand’s music scene both locally and globally. We’re reaching out to our community of listeners and supporters. Please Give A Little so we can continue to deliver local community radio out to the world.
