GROOVEMAN SPOT ft HOLLIE SMITH & ISAAC AESILI ‘Pretending’

Written by on December 4, 2012

One of our favourite producers from Japan recently release hi 3rd album “Paradox” on the Jazzy Sport, with one of the stand out tracks featuring the talents of NZs own Hollie Smith & Isaac Aesili. “Pretending” came about after Grooveman Spot sent through a beat, which Hollie Smith wrote the melody, lyrics and recorded the vocals & BV’s. To top it off multi-instrumentalist Isaac Aesili laced the track the some of that funky horn business he’s know for. A classy collaboration indeed!

GROOVEMAN SPOT (aka DJ Kou-G) first visit to NZ was back in 2009 as a guest for The Turnaround. An eclectic DJ that took the crowd on a journey thorugh hiphop, house, funk and the world of beats found in the gaps in between, Grooveman Spot’s production style is reflected in the way he plays records. New Zealand must have left a lasting impression on him as he made a return visit in 2011 for another Turnaround, and he even named a track from his 2nd album “Ponsonby Beat Down”.
